Amul celebrates Verghese Kurien’s birthday as ‘National Milk Day’
NEW DELHI: The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets the Amul brand of milk and dairy products, on Saturday celebrated the ‘National Milk Day in the memory of Verghese Kurien on his 95th birth anniversary.
“With tremendous dedication and innovative initiatives, Dr. Kurien drove India’s White Revolution,” the company said in a statement. “With India leading in the production of milk in the world, it is only fitting that a tribute is paid to the founder and father of the milk revolution in India.”
According to the company, all dairy cooperatives across the country conducted a mega activation in all markets of India to celebrate Kurien’s birth anniversary. “This year, the campaign uses the cow as the visual element to highlight the works of Dr. Kurien,” the statement added.
“In addition, Amul has also printed 150 million milk pouches with the National Milk Day logo which features Dr. Kurien’s picture with the National Milk Day logo on it.”
