FCI to construct 1,25,000 MT godown in Northeast
GUWAHATI: Food corporation of India (FCI) is in the process of construction of around 1, 25,000 metric tones (MT) of godown in Northeast India.
Yogendra Tripathi, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), FCI had a review meeting on construction of godown in North East Zone.
The meeting was also attended by Food Secretaries of States in Northeast Zone. He also reviewed the timely off-take of foodgrain by State Government. Various issues pertaining Land was discussed for expediting commencement of construction. State Government of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura assured timely acquisition and allotment of land in favour of FCI to enable construction of godown.
Around 1, 25,000 MT of godown would be possible to be constructed once the land is allotted by concerned State Governments and the executing agencies complete the work as per the schedules committed by them.
