The Mission Director was accompanied by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Shwetambri Khajuria and District Sheep Husbandry Officer Dr. Farhat Bashir during the visit.

As part of the review, Er. Bali inspected various dairy farms, including satellite heifer units, sheep units, and poultry units such as commercial layer farms and free-range poultry units established under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). He interacted directly with unit holders and beneficiaries, seeking first-hand feedback on the availability of inputs and the challenges being faced at the grassroots level.

The Mission Director advised farm owners to optimally utilise subsidies provided under government schemes to ensure sustainable livelihood generation and improved income levels. Emphasising diversification, he called for the promotion of goat farming through the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).

Highlighting the importance of a circular economy, Er. Bali encouraged farmers to establish biogas plants using animal dung, which could subsequently be utilised for vermicompost production—an important input for organic farming. He also stressed the need to adopt organic farming practices and align livestock rearing with climate-resilient approaches.

Later, the Mission Director inspected infrastructure created under HADP, including the Common Facilitation Centre and the Bailing Unit established under the Wool and Pelt Project.

The visit reaffirmed the department’s commitment to strengthening sustainable livestock development and ensuring effective implementation of welfare-oriented schemes at the grassroots level across the district.
