Cargill’s new facility expected to boost dairy productivity and generate 1,000 jobs
Mandi Gobindgarh (Punjab): Punjab Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora on Friday inaugurated a ₹300-crore dairy feed plant set up by Cargill Private Limited at the industrial park in Wazirabad, Mandi Gobindgarh.

Spread over 15 acres, the facility has an annual production capacity of four lakh metric tonnes and is being described as one of the largest dairy feed plants in South Asia. It is Cargill’s second unit in Punjab after Bathinda.
Boost to Investment Under Invest Punjab
Speaking at the event, Arora said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state is witnessing increased investment across sectors under the Invest Punjab initiative, generating employment and accelerating economic growth.
He noted that Punjab is emerging as a preferred investment destination in agriculture and food processing due to industry-friendly policies and a peaceful working environment.
“Efforts are on to make Punjab a leading industrial state in the country. The state government is committed to providing all possible support to industrial investors,” he said.
Industrial Gas Price Concerns
Responding to concerns over rising industrial gas prices, the minister stated that the state government would coordinate with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to permit the use of coal in industries in accordance with prescribed norms, similar to provisions in other states.
Benefits for Dairy Farmers
Arora said the new plant would significantly benefit farmers, especially dairy producers, by ensuring local availability of high-quality cattle feed. Improved access to quality feed is expected to enhance milk yield and quality, thereby strengthening the dairy sector and increasing farmers’ incomes.

He added that Punjab could soon emerge as a leading supplier of milk to other states, much like its current position in foodgrain supply.
The project is expected to create employment opportunities for around 1,000 youth in the region.
Dignitaries Present
Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai, Deputy Commissioner Dr Sona Thind, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pooja Syal Grewal and Ravinder Balen, President of Cargill India, also addressed the gathering.
With this latest investment, Punjab is positioning itself not only as India’s food bowl but increasingly as a major hub for dairy and allied industries — signaling a broader push toward value-added agriculture and rural industrial growth.
