Dairy Owner Nabbed for Manufacturing Adulterated Ghee Worth ₹18.26 Lakh in Banjara Hills

Hyderabad, March 5: The Commissioner’s Task Force (Golconda team) along with Masabtank Police busted an adulterated dairy products manufacturing unit in Banjara Hills and arrested a 26-year-old businessman for illegally producing and selling fake ghee.

Dairy Owner Nabbed for Manufacturing Adulterated Ghee Worth ₹18.26 Lakh in Banjara Hills

The accused, Mohammed Junaid Hussain of Bhola Nagar, was running a unit named “Pride Dairy” at Road No. 12, Banjara Hills. Despite holding a valid license, he allegedly manufactured adulterated ghee by mixing palm oil, vanaspati and other low-quality substances, and sold it as pure cow and buffalo ghee to customers, hotels and event organisers.

Massive Seizure

During the raid, officials seized adulterated dairy products and machinery worth ₹18,26,679, including:

  • 460 kg adulterated ghee
  • 70 kg adulterated mixed ghee
  • 2,090 kg adulterated cow cream
  • 1,170 kg adulterated buffalo cream
  • 28 tins of Ruchi Gold vanaspati (Dalda)
  • Used oil packets and empty tins

Machinery and equipment confiscated included two boilers, a pushing machine, a packing machine, weighing machines, four gas cylinders, 70 basins (some containing ghee), 25 empty drums and packaging materials.

Legal Action

A case has been registered at Masabtank Police Station under Crime No. 50/2026 under Sections 318(4), 274 and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The raid was carried out under the supervision of Additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao and officers of the Golconda Zone Task Force and Masabtank Police.

Why This Matters

Adulteration of ghee is not a small shortcut — it is a direct threat to public health and consumer trust. Mixing vanaspati and palm oil alters nutritional quality, may introduce trans fats, and misleads consumers who pay premium prices expecting pure milk fat.

For the dairy sector, especially at a time when cooperative brands and organized players are pushing quality assurance, such incidents damage market credibility. Strict enforcement and regular testing remain critical to protecting both consumers and genuine dairy entrepreneurs.
