Massive Crackdown in Hyderabad: 5,600 kg Fake Paneer, Adulterated Foods Seized During Festive Season

Fake Paneer Network Exposed

Task Force teams conducted raids across Secunderabad and other parts of the city, uncovering a large-scale fake paneer supply chain.

  • 2,600 kg of adulterated paneer seized in one operation
  • 3,000+ kg recovered in additional raids
  • Products supplied to hotels, caterers, and retail shops

Vaibhav Gaikwad, Task Force DCP, stated that the accused were selling low-quality paneer as genuine products to make quick profits.

Shocking Hygiene Violations

Officials reported alarming conditions:

  • Paneer stored in open covers exposed to dust and flies
  • No labeling, expiry dates, or quality checks
  • Poor sanitation in production and storage areas

Other dairy items seized included kova, cream, ghee, and sweets linked to the same network.

Adulterated Pickle Unit Busted

In a separate operation, police raided an illegal unit in Jiyaguda, where:

  • Pickles were made using spoiled vegetables
  • Unhygienic preparation methods were used
  • 72 drums of pickles and large quantities of tomato and tamarind paste were seized

Two individuals were arrested in connection with the unit.

Chemicals in Food Products

Further raids in Tappachabutra and Borabanda revealed:

  • Over 1,100 kg of adulterated food materials seized
  • Use of chemicals like citric acid and acetic acid
  • Storage in dirty, open containers

These products were reportedly supplied in bulk to hotels and catering services across the city.

Serious Public Health Risk

Authorities warned that such adulterated and unhygienic food products pose severe health risks, especially during festive seasons when consumption rises.

Strict legal action has been initiated, and investigations are ongoing to dismantle the entire supply chain.

Consumer Advisory

Officials have urged the public to:

  • Buy dairy products from trusted and certified sources
  • Check packaging, labeling, and expiry dates
  • Avoid unusually cheap food products
