Lucknow | April 2026 — The Dugdh Swarna Mahotsav 2026, marking 50 years of the Dairy Development Department, concluded in Lucknow with strong investment momentum, policy direction, and farmer-focused initiatives—reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s position as the country’s leading milk producer.

₹5,000 Crore Investment Push and Growth Roadmap
The two-day conclave brought together over 10,000 farmers, dairy entrepreneurs, and investors, resulting in investment proposals worth ₹5,000 crore. A strategic roadmap was unveiled to:
- Increase farmers’ income
- Integrate modern dairy technologies
- Build a seamless “cow-to-consumer” value chain
Farmer Participation and Digital Outreach
Beyond physical participation, the event leveraged webcasting and YouTube Live, reaching audiences across India and globally. Sessions focused on:
- Government dairy schemes
- Advanced processing technologies
- Indigenous cattle breed development
- Rural livelihood strengthening
Recognition and Transparent Benefit Transfer
Dharampal Singh honoured 139 top-performing farmers and entrepreneurs under the Nand Baba Puraskar (2024–25).
- Financial rewards distributed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
- Emphasis on transparency and efficiency in welfare delivery
UP’s Dominance in Dairy Production
Senior officials including Mukesh Kumar Meshram and Dhanlakshmi K reiterated that:
- Uttar Pradesh remains India’s largest milk-producing state
- Dairy contributes approximately ₹1.72 lakh crore to the state economy
Government initiatives such as the Nand Baba Dugdh Mission and Dugdh Policy-2022 aim to strengthen the dairy value chain and ensure fair pricing for farmers.

Massive MoUs and Employment Generation
The department reported:
- 796 MoUs worth ₹25,000+ crore signed so far
- Potential to generate 60,000+ jobs
- 59 new proposals worth ₹3,000 crore, expected to create 13,000 jobs
- Under Ground Breaking Ceremony 5.0, 72 projects worth ₹2,000 crore launched
Empowering Farmers Through Cooperative Expansion
- ₹84 crore subsidies disbursed to 10,000+ beneficiaries via DBT
- Formation of 4,000+ dairy cooperative societies
- Connectivity established with 1.5 lakh milk producers
This model reduces middlemen and improves farmer income realisation.
Industry Participation and Technology Showcase
Leading dairy players such as Amul, Namaste India, Gyan Dairy, and Paras Dairy showcased:
- Modern dairy processing technologies
- New product innovations
- Best practices in value-added dairy
A guidebook featuring success stories from state dairy schemes was also released to inspire stakeholders.
