A government spokesperson stated that after the introduction of MSP for milk producers, there has been a continuous increase in milk production and in the participation of farmers in the cooperative dairy system.

The government has increased the MSP for cow milk from ₹32 to ₹61 per kilogram and for buffalo milk from ₹47 to ₹71 per kilogram. The objective of the MSP is to ensure that its benefits are not limited to a few families but reach a larger number of milk producers, especially small and marginal livestock farmers.

Over the past two years, the number of milk producers associated with Milkfed has increased from 28,645 to 42,500.

Daily Procurement Limit Fixed at 20 Litres

Milk collection has also increased from 1.57 lakh litres per day to 2.20 lakh litres per day. This growth reflects the increasing confidence of livestock farmers in the cooperative system and the expansion of the dairy sector.

To further achieve the objective of wider benefit distribution, the government has decided to set a maximum milk procurement limit of 20 litres per livestock farmer per day.

Registration of New Milk Producers Will Increase

The government believes that this decision will provide milk-marketing opportunities to a larger number of farmers, encourage the registration of new milk producers in the cooperative sector, and improve the income and economic condition of families engaged in milk production.

The spokesperson assured all milk producers that the welfare of livestock farmers remains the highest priority for both the state government and Milkfed. Efforts will continue in the future to expand the dairy sector and enhance farmers’ incomes.
