Hyderabad: The Telangana Food Safety Department has suspended the food business licences of two dairy processing units in Sangareddy district after inspections revealed multiple violations related to food safety, hygiene, labelling, and quality control.
During inspections conducted on July 7 and 8, officials seized 3,800 kg of cream valued at approximately ₹9.22 lakh from M/s Saraswathi Dairy Products India Private Limited and Divya Enterprises.
According to the department, inspection teams found several instances of misbranding, with Keston Curd and Divya Curds carrying non-compliant labels, while Keston Paneer was found to contain misleading claims that violated food labelling regulations.
Officials also detected the use of expired laboratory reagents and chemicals for food testing, raising concerns over the reliability of quality assurance procedures at the facilities.
In addition, inspectors reported multiple non-compliances, including poor hygiene and sanitation, inadequate documentation and traceability systems, improper storage practices, pest infestation, and structural deficiencies that could compromise food safety standards.
Samples of milk, curd, and paneer were collected from both units and sent to accredited laboratories for analysis. The Food Safety Department stated that further regulatory action will be initiated based on the laboratory test results.
The enforcement action highlights Telangana’s continued efforts to strengthen compliance with food safety regulations and ensure that dairy products reaching consumers meet prescribed quality and labelling standards.
