PALWAL: Around 500 kg of ready paneer and 100 kg of milk were destroyed after a surprise inspection at a dairy unit in Khaika village of Palwal district, Haryana, found the paneer unfit for consumption and cleanliness conditions at the premises unsatisfactory, officials said.
The inspection was conducted by the Chief Minister Flying Squad (CMFS), Faridabad, along with the Food Safety Department and local police, following a tip-off alleging the use of adulterated or other substances in the preparation of paneer.
Dairy Unit Had Valid FSSAI Registration
A team led by DSP Vivek Chaudhary of CMFS Faridabad conducted the inspection jointly with Food Safety Officer Palwal Ishwar Kumar and local police at Talim Dairy, located in Khaika village under Bahin police station.
The dairy is owned by Talim, a resident of Khaika, according to officials.
At the time of inspection, paneer production was underway and approximately 500 kg of ready paneer was found at the premises.
Officials said the dairy operator was asked to produce a valid food-safety licence and presented an FSSAI registration, which was found to be valid.
Paneer and Milk Destroyed at Site
Despite the valid registration, officials found the ready paneer unfit for consumption, while cleanliness conditions at the dairy were reported to be unsatisfactory.
Under the supervision of the Food Safety Officer, a pit was dug using a JCB machine, following which approximately 500 kg of paneer and 100 kg of milk were destroyed and buried at the site.

The disposal was carried out as an enforcement measure following the inspection findings.
Raids Target Alleged Synthetic Paneer Units in Gurgaon Belt
The Palwal action comes amid separate enforcement activity against suspected synthetic or analogue paneer production in the Gurgaon region.
During overnight raids, synthetic paneer was reportedly seized from three units along the Gurgaon canal in Gondola village and another unit in Nai.
The action followed a report highlighting alleged clandestine manufacturing of synthetic or analogue paneer in the Gondola belt. The report had alleged that some units were producing paneer-like products using skimmed milk along with palm oil, vegetable fats and soya paste.
The latest raids are part of enforcement efforts to identify and act against food businesses suspected of manufacturing or selling products that do not meet applicable food-safety and compositional requirements.
Food-Safety Checks Intensify Over Analogue Paneer
The inspections come amid increased regulatory attention on analogue and synthetic paneer, particularly over concerns about misleading product descriptions and compliance with food-safety standards.
The distinction between conventional milk-based paneer and analogue products is important from both a food-composition and labelling perspective. Any enforcement action against a particular product or establishment, however, remains subject to the findings of the competent food-safety authorities and applicable legal procedures.
