The Enforcement Directorate alleges that dairy firms supplied adulterated ghee worth ₹234.5 crore to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. Total assets attached, seized or frozen in the case have reportedly reached ₹132.55 crore.
HYDERABAD — The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Hyderabad Zonal Office, has provisionally attached movable and immovable assets worth ₹129.85 crore belonging to dairy companies, their promoters and related entities in connection with the alleged supply of adulterated ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the agency said the attachment was carried out under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, as part of its investigation into the alleged supply of adulterated ghee used in preparing laddu prasadam at the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala.
The latest action brings the total value of assets attached, seized or frozen in the case to ₹132.55 crore, according to the ED.
Dairy Firms and Promoters Named in Investigation
The assets provisionally attached reportedly belong to:
- Bhole Baba Organic Dairymilk Private Limited
- Sri Vyshnavi Dairy Specialities Private Limited
- Sukriti Foods Private Limited
- Promoters Vipin Jain and Pomil Jain, along with family members
- Sukriti Foods promoter Kailash Chand Mangla and family members
- Other related entities and individuals
The case concerns allegations that adulterated ghee was supplied to TTD through a network of dairy companies and entities involved in tendering and commercial transactions.
The attachment is a provisional enforcement measure. It should not be interpreted as a final judicial determination of the allegations against the companies or individuals concerned.
ED Alleges Supply of Ghee Worth ₹234.5 Crore
According to the agency, Bhole Baba allegedly supplied adulterated ghee worth ₹234.5 crore, both directly and through other dairies allegedly used as fronts in tendering processes. The ED has also alleged that commissions were paid in connection with the transactions.
The investigation followed an FIR registered at Tirupati East Police Station alleging offences including conspiracy, cheating, forgery and corruption.

A chargesheet and a supplementary chargesheet filed before the Special Judge for Special Police Establishment and Anti-Corruption Bureau cases in Nellore reportedly describe an alleged conspiracy to supply adulterated ghee to TTD.
Alleged Manufacturing Process and Financial Transactions
The ED alleges that the ghee was manufactured at facilities operated by Bhole Baba Organic Dairymilk Private Limited and Sukriti Foods by blending refined palm oil, palm kernel oil and palmolein with chemicals, including monoglycerides, acetic acid ester, lactic acid and beta-carotene.
According to the agency, the resulting products were invoiced as edible oils to conceal the nature of the transactions.
The ED further alleges that the companies recorded fictitious purchases of milk and ghee, along with sales of by-products such as skimmed milk. Palm oil used in the alleged manufacturing process was reportedly shown in records as having been sold to fictitious buyers.
The agency claims that payments linked to fictitious purchases were routed back in cash through hawala channels to finance bogus buyers and pay commissions.
These details represent the investigating agency’s allegations and should be distinguished from facts established through a final court judgment.
Searches and Arrests Across Multiple States
On June 3, 2026, the ED conducted searches at 16 premises across six states and regions, including Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.
During the operation, the agency reportedly seized or froze ₹2.7 crore in cash and bank balances. It also arrested Vipin Jain and Kailash Chand Mangla in connection with the investigation.
The latest provisional attachment represents a further step in the agency’s efforts to identify and secure assets allegedly connected with the transactions under investigation.
Food Safety and Dairy Supply-Chain Implications
The case highlights the importance of ingredient traceability, supplier verification and robust quality assurance in large-scale dairy procurement, particularly when products are supplied to institutional buyers.
Genuine ghee is primarily composed of milk fat. Detecting adulteration involving non-dairy fats requires suitable analytical methods, which may include tests of fatty-acid composition, sterol profiles and other relevant parameters. Routine checks alone may not identify every form of adulteration.
For dairy processors and institutional procurement agencies, supplier audits, batch-level documentation, transparent invoicing and independent laboratory testing are important safeguards against fraud and quality failures.
The allegations also underscore the need for clear separation between commercial records and verified product traceability, allowing investigators and food safety authorities to establish the origin, composition and movement of ingredients.
Investigation Continues
With the latest attachment, the total value of assets attached, seized or frozen in the case has reportedly risen to ₹132.55 crore. The investigation concerns alleged financial transactions and the supply of adulterated ghee to TTD, with further proceedings determining the legal consequences for the parties involved.
