Animal Husbandry Department organized a series of one-day demonstration-cum-awareness camps under the Agricultural Technology Mission Agency (ATMA) for dairy cattle farmers. These programs were conducted across various locations, including Banihal, Maho Mangit, Chanderkote, Gool, and Gandhri, under the supervision of Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO), Dr. Suhail Kawoosa. The camps aimed to educate farmers about flagship government schemes such as the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, Integrated Dairy Development Scheme, Integrated Poultry Development Scheme, and the National Livestock Mission. Addressing the participants, the CAHO highlighted the critical role of the livestock sector in providing nutritious food and generating employment opportunities, particularly for landless, small, and marginal farmers, as well as women in rural areas. Experts conducted training sessions on value addition of fodder, milk, and poultry meat. Farmers were also educated on scientific methods of dairy cattle rearing to enhance milk production and safeguard livestock through effective vaccination programs. Additionally, the department distributed de-worming medicines and mineral mixtures to the participating farmers to promote livestock health and productivity. Prominent attendees at the events included Technical Officer Dr. Naseer Ahmed Mir, Mobile Veterinary Officer Dr. Rayees Ahmed Bafanda, Clinical Pathologist Dr. Mohsin Ahmad Parray, staff from the Animal Husbandry Department, PRI representatives, and local citizens.
