The annual general body meeting of Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU), held on Thursday, announced an additional price of Rs 15 per litre of milk procured from farmers affiliated to the cooperative societies under it.
The meeting, presided over by chairman Mani Viswanath, also announced a cattle feed subsidy of Rs 200 per bag. The meeting adopted a Rs 1,474-crore revenue budget and a Rs 52 crore capital budget for the 2024-25 financial year, besides approving amendments to certain rules of TRCMPU.
With this increase in price, the procurement price of milk will go up to Rs. 59.98 per litre, Viswanath said. Of this, Rs 10 will go to farmers, Rs 3 to the societies and Rs 2 will be converted as the farmers’ share in the Union.
This is the highest ever increase in procurement price in the history of Milma, for which Rs 13 crore has been earmarked. Members of 831 milk cooperative societies affiliated with TRCMPU attended the meeting.
