Kerala aims to catch up with Punjab in milk production: Minister Chinjurani

Kozhikode Kerala is trying to catch up with Punjab in milk productivity in the country, said Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister J. Chinjurani. The minister was inaugurating the District Dairy Conference organized at the Meppayyur T.K. Convention Center. The government is carrying out several welfare activities for dairy farmers. The minister also said that an e-system will be created in the veterinary field as part of digitalization.

The government will implement a scheme where the interest share of dairy farmers who buy up to ten cows on bank loans will be borne by the government. Under this scheme, the government will bear the interest of up to Rs. 3 lakh per farmer. The government has implemented many schemes such as pension for lakhs of dairy farmers, scholarships for the children of dairy farmers, insurance cover. The government has decided to consider the children of dairy farmers for posts in Milma. The minister added that when examining the three regions of Kerala in milk production, the highest profit was received from the Malabar region and 85 percent of that profit is being given as benefits through dairy groups.

The function was presided over by Meppayyur Panchayat President K.T. Rajan. Dairy Development Department Director Shalini Gopinath explained the project. District Panchayat Vice President Adv. P. Gavas, Meladi Block Panchayat Vice President Prannasa, Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Chairman K.S. Mani, Director P. Srinivasan, Kozhukallur Ksheera Sangham President K.K. Anitha, District Dairy Development Department Deputy Director R. Rashmi, dairy farmer representatives, political party representatives and others were present.

In conjunction with the Ksheera Sangam, a cattle exhibition, a cow protection camp, a dairy expo, a cooperative workshop, an Atma Kisan Goshti, a personality development class, a dairy farmer seminar, a dairy quiz, an art evening, local science, honoring dairy farmers, and a free medical camp were also organized.
