Prabhakaran and Sudheesh achieved a clear victory in the milk

People around Kiran V. Prabhakar, who left his engineering job abroad. and returned home, made many comments. Not only did he not take anything he heard to heart, but Kiran responded to them by winning the district-level award for the best young dairy farmer.

Kiran (36) of Mathuvayal, Mathamangalam, came to the village during the Covid period. Kiran had confirmed that his field of interest was agriculture and cow husbandry. Thus, he started a garden farm on three-quarters of an acre of fallow land in the Panappuzha canal. Along with coconut, kamuk, pepper vegetables, and fodder grass farming, he also raised four cows. Today, the farm has 20 cows of HF, Jersey, Gir, Rati, etc. and five heifers. 200 liters of milk are supplied daily to the Cheruthazham Dairy Cooperative Society (Cherutazham Milk). This generates lakhs of rupees in income per month.

Biogas is produced. Fertilizers are usually marketed locally. Prakash and Kavitha, a couple from Nepal, also help Kiran with cow husbandry and farming. Father is the late Prabhakaran. Mother is Ashalatha. Wife is Namrata. Children are Haimanika and Aaradhika.

The award for the best dairy farmer in Kalyassery came to K.R. Sudheesh the other day. He measures 370 liters of milk daily Sudheesh (46) is also the largest milker in Kalyassery block. Eight years ago, Sudheesh left his job as a recreation manager in a five-star hotel in Delhi and returned to his native Kaithapram. He first turned to the bus industry. However, he later gave it up and turned to agriculture and cow husbandry.

“I was born and raised in the farming village of Kadannappally, Thumbota. My father Sreedharan Nambiar and mother Rukmini Amma are farmers. I followed their footsteps and started farming. The first thing I bought was a dwarf cow. Today, I have forty cows and their calves,” Sudheesh laughs. He also does fodder farming on more than two and a half acres of land. His wife Ramya is an employee of Cheruthazham Service Cooperative Bank. His children Armaan S. Nambiar and Naira S. Nambiar are also with him.
