Guwahati, November 20, 2025: Purabi, Northeast India’s largest dairy cooperative brand, has opened a new milk booth near Nehru Park, Guwahati. This is the first booth set up in collaboration with the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), aimed at making quality dairy products easily available to morning walkers, students, and city residents.
The booth was inaugurated by Shri Jogen Mohan, Minister of Cooperation, along with senior officials from the Cooperation Department, GMDA, and Purabi.
Under the partnership, GMDA has allotted three prime locations for Purabi’s prefabricated milk booths. With the Nehru Park kiosk now operational, two more kiosks—near Shradhanjali Kanan (RG Baruah Road) and Atal Udyan (Adabari)—will be launched soon.
The minister praised Purabi and GMDA for their joint effort, calling it a step toward strengthening Assam’s dairy ecosystem and supporting the state’s Assam Dairy Development Plan, which targets handling 10 lakh litres of milk per day in the cooperative sector.
GMDA officials expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, highlighting its role in improving citizen convenience and access to quality food.
Purabi products are manufactured by WAMUL and marketed by NEDFL, a joint venture of the Assam Government and NDDB. NEDFL is expanding its distribution network to ensure fresh, nutritious dairy products reach consumers across the Northeast.
NEDFL Managing Director Satya Brata Bose said the new kiosks bring Purabi closer to consumers, offering safe and high-quality dairy products while strengthening food security.
The new booth joins Purabi’s growing network across Guwahati, including locations such as GMCH campus, ISBT Khanapara, Janata Bhawan entrance, and opposite Assam State Zoo.
These prefabricated kiosks—procured under the World Bank-funded APART Project—are equipped with modern cold-chain facilities like visi-coolers, chest freezers, and insulated storage to ensure product freshness throughout the day.
Purabi continues to transform Assam’s dairy sector by supporting farmers, modernizing processing, expanding its retail presence, and creating livelihood opportunities through its franchise-based kiosk model.
