Mohan Yadav Pushes Dairy-Led Rural Growth; ‘Vrindavan’ Villages Planned Across MP Blocks

Bhopal: In an ambitious move blending tradition with modern rural economics, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has unveiled a transformative roadmap to position the state as a leading dairy hub in India. The strategy places dairy development and cattle-based agriculture at the core of rural growth.

Mohan Yadav Pushes Dairy-Led Rural Growth; ‘Vrindavan’ Villages Planned Across MP Blocks

The ‘Vrindavan Village’ Vision

At the heart of this initiative is the Vrindavan Gram Yojana, which aims to develop one model village in every block as a self-reliant “Vrindavan Village.” Inspired by the cultural legacy of Vrindavan, these villages are envisioned as integrated rural ecosystems.

Each model village will include:

  • Modern gaushalas (cow shelters)
  • Biogas units for sustainable energy
  • Solar power systems
  • Promotion of medicinal plant cultivation
  • Local dairy processing units

The idea is to create scalable, cow-centric rural economies that combine sustainability, employment, and cultural identity.

Aggressive Dairy Expansion Targets

To power this vision, the state has partnered with the National Dairy Development Board to significantly expand milk procurement. The target is to nearly double daily milk collection from 10.5 lakh kg to 20 lakh kg.

This will be supported by:

  • Expansion of dairy cooperatives to 18,000 villages
  • Strengthening procurement and processing infrastructure
  • Greater integration of farmers into organised dairy networks

Financial Incentives and Infrastructure Push

To ensure farmer participation, the government has rolled out direct incentives:

  • ₹5 per litre bonus on milk procurement
  • Increase in cattle shelter subsidy to ₹40 per cow per day

Backing the plan with substantial funding:

  • ₹100 crore allocated for the Vrindavan scheme
  • ₹100 crore earmarked for dairy infrastructure development

Towards a Dairy-Driven Economy

The initiative aims to convert traditional cattle rearing into a technology-driven rural enterprise, generating employment, boosting farmer incomes, and reducing rural distress.

Officials believe the model will not only strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s rural economy but also position it as a strong contender for becoming India’s next “dairy capital.”

If executed effectively, this “Vrindavan Village” concept could redefine how cultural heritage and modern agri-economics work together—turning villages into engines of sustainable growth rather than migration zones.
