The Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana is a flagship dairy development scheme by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. It is designed to boost milk production, encourage scientific dairy farming, and provide significant financial support to livestock farmers and unemployed youth.

The scheme has been a major focus in 2026, which has been declared the “Farmer Welfare Year” in Madhya Pradesh.
Financial Benefits & Subsidies
The scheme offers a combination of bank loans and government subsidies. The subsidy amount is released after a 3-year lock-in period.
- Subsidy Structure:
- SC/ST Beneficiaries: 33% of the project cost.
- General/OBC Beneficiaries: 25% of the project cost.

- Financial assistance for the construction of cattle sheds, the purchase of high-yielding milch cattle, cattle insurance, and transportation costs.
- Each unit consists of 25 cattle (either all crossbred cows, indigenous cows, or buffaloes of similar breeds).
- A beneficiary can avail up to 8 units (200 cattle) depending on landholding and repayment record.
- Loan amount ranges from ₹36,00,000 (for indigenous breed units) to ₹42,00,000 (for crossbred cows/buffalo units).
- The scheme ensures insurance coverage for cattle, sheds, and transit risks.
- Tagging of purchased animals is mandatory and registered on the Bharat Pashudhan App.
- Preference is given to farmers already supplying milk to milk unions or located along milk collection routes.
- The disbursement occurs over an 18-month period in stages.
- The beneficiary becomes eligible for another unit after 2 years, provided the earlier loan is regularly repaid.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
- The applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
- The applicant must be a livestock farmer.
- The applicant belongs to all categories: SC, ST, and others are eligible to apply.
- The applicant must possess a minimum of 3.5 acres of agricultural land per unit (25 cattle).
- The applicant can apply for up to 8 units, with land requirement increasing proportionately.
- The applicant’s family’s collective landholding can be considered; in such cases, there will be co-borrowers.
- For scattered landholdings, at least half an acre must be in one location.
- The applicant must hold a training certificate from a reputed institute/organization in dairy management.

Exclusions
- No Mixed Units: You cannot mix different types of animals (e.g., buffaloes and indigenous cows) within the same unit.
- No Defaulters: Applicants must not have any outstanding defaults with any bank.
How to Apply
The application process is primarily online through the dedicated portal.
Registration
Step 1: Visit the official website of “Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana”, and click “Sign-up”.
Step 2: In the online registration form, fill the following mandatory fields: Email ID, Mobile Number. Create a password and confirm. Finally, click “Submit” to complete the registration.
Step 3: After successful registration, the User ID and Password will be generated.
Application
Step 1: Visit the official website of “Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana”, and click “Sign-In”. Sign in using your Username and Password created during registration.
Step 2: Navigate to the online form of the scheme. In the form, fill in all the mandatory fields and upload all the mandatory documents in the specified format and size.
Step 3: Carefully review all the information provided and the documents uploaded. Make any necessary corrections. Click “Save Application”. You’ll receive a confirmation message upon successful submission of the application, along with an “application number”. Click “Print Application” to print the application.
Pro Tip: Preference is given to farmers who are already part of a milk union or located along established milk collection routes. Ensure your land records clearly show the required acreage to avoid technical rejection.
