Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharmpal Singh on Saturday inaugurated ‘Rangeelo Kashi’, a two-day mega rural festival at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), bringing together farmers, dairy experts, researchers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, cooperatives and rural enterprises.

The festival is being organised by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and its wholly owned subsidiary NDDB Dairy Services to showcase livestock excellence, agri-dairy technologies, farmer-led innovations and the cultural heritage of Purvanchal.
Designed as a platform for knowledge exchange and practical learning, Rangeelo Kashi focuses on emerging technologies, enterprise opportunities and developments across the rural economy and dairy value chain.
Focus on farmer income and livestock productivity
Addressing the gathering, Dharmpal Singh said the Uttar Pradesh government was supporting farmers through subsidies for cattle purchases and access to high-quality semen to improve livestock productivity and farmer incomes.
He said animal husbandry and dairy development would be important to Uttar Pradesh’s ambition of becoming a $1 trillion economy, with efforts focused on increasing milk production while keeping production costs under control.
The minister also urged livestock owners to participate in the government’s vaccination programmes to protect animals from disease and improve productivity.

He credited focused efforts by the state government and NDDB with helping Uttar Pradesh strengthen its position as India’s largest milk-producing state, while noting that significant opportunities remain to further develop the state’s dairy sector.
