New Delhi: Mother Dairy has commissioned its first dedicated butter chiplet manufacturing line at its existing milk processing facility in Junagadh, Gujarat, as the dairy company expands its value-added butter portfolio.
The new line, located at Junagadh Dairy in the Gandhigram area of Junagadh district, has an annual production capacity of 550 tonnes. The facility will supply butter chiplets to markets across India, according to a company official.
First dedicated butter chiplet facility
The company has established the new infrastructure within its existing milk processing facility in Junagadh.
“This is our first butter chiplet unit in the country and we will be supplying across the country from this facility,” a company official said.
The Junagadh facility operates under Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
Expanding value-added dairy portfolio
Butter chiplets are individual, portion-sized units of butter designed for convenient use and controlled serving, with potential applications across foodservice, hospitality and retail channels.

The new production line adds a specialised value-added product capability to Mother Dairy’s existing dairy processing infrastructure and provides the company with a dedicated base for nationwide distribution.
The move also aligns with the broader dairy industry’s increasing focus on value addition, product convenience and organised distribution, alongside traditional milk and dairy products.
With an annual capacity of 550 tonnes, the Junagadh line is expected to serve markets across the country from a single manufacturing location.
