Reliance Consumer Products launches Joyland in Tamil Nadu, expanding its FMCG portfolio and entering a competitive market dominated by established dairy and beverage brands.
India — Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) arm of Reliance Industries Limited, has entered India’s ready-to-drink dairy beverage market with the launch of Joyland flavoured milk, priced at ₹20.

The product is being introduced in Tamil Nadu, with strawberry, vanilla and pistachio among the announced flavours. The launch positions Reliance to compete with established players such as Amul, Mother Dairy, ITC and Nandini in India’s flavoured milk segment.
According to the company’s announcement, Joyland is made with authentic dairy ingredients and is intended to combine quality with affordability. The company has indicated that Tamil Nadu is the starting point for a broader dairy beverage portfolio, with plans to progressively expand its reach across India.
Joyland Targets Affordable Dairy Beverages
T Krishnakumar, Director of Reliance Consumer Products Limited, described the launch as an important step in expanding the company’s product portfolio and increasing consumer choice.
The ₹20 price point places Joyland in the affordable packaged beverage segment, where pricing, flavour variety, product quality and distribution reach can influence consumer purchasing decisions.
For Reliance, entering flavoured milk also provides an opportunity to extend its presence beyond conventional packaged foods and soft drinks into a category that combines dairy nutrition with convenience and on-the-go consumption.
The commercial performance of the launch will depend on factors including consumer acceptance, repeat purchases, retail availability, cold-chain management and the company’s ability to establish a distinctive position against existing brands.
Competition Intensifies in the Flavoured Milk Market
India’s flavoured milk market includes products from dairy cooperatives, private dairy processors and diversified food and beverage companies.
Established brands benefit from existing distribution networks, dairy procurement systems and consumer familiarity. A new entrant with a competitive price and wide retail access could increase competition, particularly in the mass-market segment.
Reliance previously expanded its presence in the soft drink market through Campa, including products at accessible price points. The Joyland launch represents a further move into beverages, this time using dairy-based ingredients.
For competing dairy companies, the entry of another large consumer goods player could increase pressure to differentiate products through flavour innovation, packaging, nutrition, pricing and distribution.
Flavoured Milk Market Shows Growth Potential
The supplied report, citing Euromonitor, estimates that India’s flavoured milk market will grow by approximately 10% in 2026, increasing from ₹7,600 crore in 2025 to ₹8,360 crore.
The same figures place the market at ₹4,420 crore in 2021, indicating substantial expansion over the five-year period.
| Market indicator | Reported value |
|---|---|
| Market size in 2021 | ₹4,420 crore |
| Market size in 2025 | ₹7,600 crore |
| Projected market size in 2026 | ₹8,360 crore |
| Reported 2026 year-on-year growth | 10% |
These figures indicate a sizeable opportunity for manufacturers looking to develop convenient, flavoured dairy beverages. However, the estimates should be interpreted according to the market definition and methodology used by the research provider.
What the Launch Means for Dairy Processors
Ready-to-drink flavoured milk requires more than an attractive price and appealing flavours. Manufacturers must manage formulation, heat treatment, packaging integrity, shelf-life stability and microbiological safety.

Depending on the product’s formulation and intended storage conditions, processing may involve pasteurisation or ultra-high-temperature (UHT) treatment, followed by appropriate packaging and distribution. Products requiring refrigeration also depend on an effective cold chain to maintain quality throughout retail distribution.
For dairy processors, the category offers opportunities to convert milk into higher-value products while reaching consumers seeking convenient beverage options. Successful expansion requires balancing taste, nutritional composition, processing costs and product safety.
National Expansion Could Shape the Next Phase
Tamil Nadu is the initial market for Joyland, according to the company’s announcement. Reliance has indicated that it intends to develop the brand into a broader dairy beverage portfolio and expand distribution progressively.
The scale and timing of any national rollout remain important factors to watch. Broader availability could bring Joyland into more direct competition with cooperative brands and private dairy companies across regional markets.
