Kerala sells an average of 1.7 million liters of milk
Thiruvananthapuram: Milma is considering increasing milk prices in the state. The state federation has asked Milma’s Malabar, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram regional unions to express their views on the matter.

The report should be submitted before the board meeting at the end of this month. It has also been informed that a study will be conducted on how the price hike will affect sales.
Currently, a liter is being sold for Rs 52. Depending on the quality of the milk, the farmer will get Rs 42 to Rs 48. The last time milk prices were increased in the state was in December 2022. That time, it was increased by Rs 6 per liter.

Milma procures an average of 12.6 lakh liters of milk from Kerala per day. It sells an average of 17 lakh liters.
The additional milk required is purchased from the cooperative sector of the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra.
