Dairy farmers’ meet to be held in Palakkad

Thiruvananthapuram: Ksheera Sangamam 2017, the state-level dairy farmers’ meet, being organized by the department of dairy development, will be held at Pattambi in Palakkad from January 28 to 30. Dairy development minister K Raju said that the meet, which would be inaugurated by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, would be attended by various ministers and around 25,000 dairy farmers from across the state.

“The meet will be held with an aim of providing profitable options to dairy farmers and attaining self-reliance in the dairy sector by increasing the milk production,” the minister said.

“Various programmes including cattle show, training sessions on rearing cattle, female dairy farmers’ meet, young dairy entrepreneurs’ meet, exhibitions and seminars, will be held in connection with the meet,” he said while releasing the team’s logo at a function held here on Monday, which was attended by Pattambi MLA Mohammad Mohsin and dairy development department director Georgekutty Jacob.

Raju said that the highlight of the meet would be a ‘dairy parliament’ to be held for the first time in the state.

“It will be a platform for the dairy farmers in Kerala to raise the problems faced by dairy development schemes, animal husbandry and milk procurement processes, in their respective regions,” he said.
