GCMMF Chairman Ashok Chaudhary has been appointed as a Director of SPCDF by the Union Ministry of Cooperation.

AHMEDABAD, April 27, 2026 – In a significant move to strengthen the cooperative dairy sector across India, the Union Ministry of Cooperation has officially appointed Shri Ashokbhai Chaudhary, Chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF – Amul) and Dudhsagar Dairy, as a Director of the newly formed Sardar Patel Cooperative Dairy Federation (SPCDF).

GCMMF Chairman Ashok Chaudhary has been appointed as a Director of SPCDF by the Union Ministry of Cooperation.

The appointment comes as part of a national initiative launched by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to replicate the “Amul Model” of dairy success across 20 states. Shri Chaudhary was elected unopposed to the 14-member board, representing the Mehsana District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union.

A Visionary Leader for Farmers’ Welfare

Ashokbhai Chaudhary, a mechanical engineer by profession, has long been recognized as a tireless champion of animal husbandry. Since taking the helm at Dudhsagar Dairy in 2021 and being elected Chairman of Amul (GCMMF) in July 2025, his leadership has been characterized by:

  • Modernization: Integrating advanced veterinary services and IVF-embryo transfer technology for cattle.
  • Economic Growth: Under his tenure, GCMMF achieved a record-breaking brand turnover of ₹90,000 crore (FY 2024-25).
  • Empowerment: Ensuring fair pricing and patronage bonuses for over 36 lakh dairy farmers in Gujarat.

The National Mission: “Sahakar se Samriddhi”

The Sardar Patel Cooperative Dairy Federation (SPCDF), The federation has an initial capital of ₹200 crore and aims to connect over 20 lakh farmers across 20 states.

The initiative is named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

  1. Bridging the Gap: Bringing 45,000 Milk Collection Centers into the cooperative framework.
  2. Expanding Reach: Scaling the success of Gujarat’s dairy cooperatives to 20 other states.
  3. Ensuring Sustainability: Providing rural producers with assured markets and technical support.

Leadership Appointments at SPCDF

“Amul today is a beacon of what the Ministry of Cooperation can achieve,” Shri Chaudhary stated following the appointment. “I am committed to honoring the legacy of Sardar Patel and Tribhuvandas Patel by ensuring inclusive growth for every dairy farmer in the country.”

The newly elected board includes several prominent figures from the dairy landscape:

  • Jayen Mehta: Managing Director of GCMMF.
  • Shamalbhai Patel: Chairman of Sabarkantha Union.
  • Jethabhai Ahir: Chairman of Panchmahal Union.
  • Khagen Patgiri: Representing Shakti Dugdha.

This strategic appointment solidifies Ashokbhai Chaudhary’s position as a central figure in India’s “White Revolution 2.0,” as the country strives for global dominance in dairy exports and farmer prosperity.
