INDIA: Heritage Foods Limited has expanded its Nourish portfolio with the launch of Nourish High Protein Curd, strengthening its presence in India’s growing protein-focused and value-added dairy segment.

Heritage Foods Unveils Nourish High Protein Curd as Protein-Focused Dairy Demand Grows

The new product comes as consumer interest in protein-rich foods and nutrition-focused products continues to increase. Dairy companies are responding by developing products that retain familiar consumption formats while offering differentiated nutritional positioning.

For Heritage Foods, the launch extends its strategy of developing dairy products that combine everyday consumption with enhanced nutritional value.

Bringing protein into an everyday dairy staple

Curd is already a regular part of the Indian diet, making it a natural format for a protein-focused product.

Rather than requiring consumers to adopt an unfamiliar food, high-protein curd allows consumers to incorporate additional protein into an existing eating habit.

The product is positioned to appeal to consumers who are paying greater attention to protein intake, fitness, nutrition and balanced diets.

The trend extends beyond sports and fitness consumers. Protein awareness is increasingly influencing food choices across different age groups and lifestyles, creating opportunities for dairy companies to develop products with specific nutritional propositions.

Nourish portfolio expands

Heritage Foods’ existing Nourish products include:

ProductPack sizeProtein
Nourish High Protein Curd400 g25 g
Nourish High Protein Paneer240 g60 g
Nourish Protein Rich Milk500 ml18 g

The expansion reflects the growing focus among dairy companies on protein-enriched and value-added dairy products, as consumers increasingly pay attention to nutritional composition.

Commenting on the launch, Heritage Foods Executive Director Brahmani Nara said the company was building a portfolio that brings higher protein into familiar dairy formats and makes nutrition more convenient and accessible for everyday consumers.

Priced at ₹75

The 400-gram Nourish High Protein Curd cup is priced at ₹75.

The product will be available through leading quick-commerce platforms, modern trade outlets, Heritage Happiness Points and select premium general trade stores.

The launch comes as India’s organised dairy sector increasingly moves beyond traditional milk and basic dairy products towards nutrition-led, differentiated and premium value-added categories.

For Heritage Foods, adding high-protein curd alongside paneer and milk gives the Nourish portfolio a broader presence across everyday dairy consumption occasions.

Value-added dairy becomes a growth opportunity

The launch also reflects a broader structural change in India’s dairy industry.

While traditional categories such as milk, curd, butter, ghee and paneer remain central to the market, dairy companies are increasingly investing in specialised and value-added products.

Protein-focused dairy is one such emerging segment.

Dairy naturally provides high-quality protein, making it particularly suited to the growing demand for convenient protein sources. By combining a familiar dairy format with a differentiated nutritional proposition, manufacturers can potentially create products with greater consumer value than conventional commodity-oriented offerings.

Premiumisation and product differentiation

The expansion of the Nourish portfolio highlights how dairy companies are increasingly competing through product innovation, nutritional positioning, convenience, packaging and branding.

For processors, value-added products can provide an opportunity to generate greater economic value from milk rather than relying entirely on conventional liquid milk and basic dairy categories.

The success of such products, however, will depend on several factors, including protein content, taste, texture, price, shelf life, cold-chain performance and repeat consumer purchase.

With Nourish High Protein Curd, Heritage Foods is positioning itself within a dairy market that is steadily moving from simply selling milk-based products towards offering nutrition-led, differentiated and higher-value dairy solutions.

The launch is another indication that the next phase of India’s dairy growth may increasingly come not only from producing more milk, but from creating more value from every litre of milk processed.
