Mother Dairy to Set Up ₹250 Crore Milk Processing Plant in Bihar

Mother Dairy Jamalpur Plant: Mother Dairy, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), is establishing a milk processing plant in Bihar. The plant will be located in Jamalpur, Munger district. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the plant yesterday. NDDB Chairman Meenesh Shah was also present for the occasion. New Delhi: You’ve probably heard of Mother Dairy, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). It was established in 1974 during Operation Flood. The Noida-based company is setting up a milk processing plant in Jamalpur, Munger district, Bihar. The groundbreaking ceremony for this plant, which will be built with an investment of approximately ₹250 crore (approximately $250 million), took place yesterday.

Plant to be completed in two years

A senior official involved in this development says that Mother Dairy’s Jamalpur plant will be completed in two years. The Bihar government has allocated approximately 15 acres of land in the Jamalpur Industrial Area. The plant will now be set up there with an investment of approximately ₹250 crore (approximately $250 million). He added that the company has taken possession of the land and the necessary infrastructure is already in place. Therefore, it is estimated that the plant will be ready within two years.

Currently, milk, yogurt, and cheese production will be limited.

He stated that the Jamalpur plant will initially produce milk, yogurt, and cheese. Later, other dairy-related products will also be produced. Initially, the Jamalpur plant will have a capacity to process 100,000 liters of milk per day. This capacity will be expanded to 200,000 liters per day. Officials say that Munger and the surrounding areas are located on the banks of the Ganges River, where there is no shortage of milk. Therefore, the plant will have no problem collecting milk. With the opening of this plant, local milk producers will also be able to receive fair prices.

Nitish Kumar Performs Bhoomi Pujan

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar performed the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for Mother Dairy’s Jamalpur plant on Saturday. Union Minister for Panchayati Raj, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lallan Singh, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and NDDB and Mother Dairy Chairman Meenesh Shahi were also present.

Mother Dairy’s 10th Plant in Jamalpur

When Mother Dairy was established, its first plant was located near Pandav Nagar in the Yamunapar area of ​​the national capital, Delhi. Now, that area has become known as Mother Dairy. Subsequently, the company established plants in several cities. Currently, the company has nine plants. These plants are located in Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pilkhuwa, Etawah, Junagadh, Kutch, Tirupati, and Motihari. The plant to be built in Jamalpur will be its 10th plant.
