While raiding this establishment, the Food Safety Department’s team saw chemicals and disinfectants stored near many final milk products. These were kept close to paneer and flavoured milk in a refrigerator. Several label defects such as cross-branding and non-declaration of additives such as artificial flavours were found on the final products.
The staff of this dairy unit failed to demonstrate internal and external audit records. In addition, the management did not maintain necessary documentation such as quality control records, waste management, maintenance, complaint and recall records, and sanitation, among other important ones. Also, water analysis reports and medical test reports of food handlers were not available. FSSAI licence was not showcased at a prominent location.
The task force team discovered non-FSSAI lactic acid cultures used to make curd. There was no efficient storage facility for raw materials. Scrap materials were kept with the final products. In addition, the dairy processing unit had no hygiene and sanitation facilities.
The staff used rusted machinery to operate the place. The cold storage chambers had rusted walls and roofs. Also, they saw rust seepage near the curd and milk storage area. A few milk product categories were not a part of this place’s licence. The state level task force team suspended the dairy unit’s licence for these violations at the premises.
