Will face any challenge to protect farmers’ interests: Balyan
MUZAFFARNAGAR: Concerned over cane arrears running into crores of rupees in the district, Minister of State for Agriculture Sanjeev Balyan has said he will face any challenge to protect the interests of farmers in Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP leader was present at a meeting of farmers here last evening,
in which a decision was taken to not supply the
cane crop to Titawi sugar mill which owes Rs 150 crores to farmers.
Instead, the crop will be supplied to neighbouring states
Haryana and Uttarakhand, as per the unanimous decision.
After the meeting, some farmers vandalised 70 cane
purchasing centres of Titawi mill.
While addressing the cane growers, Balyan also urged the SP-dispensation to take stringent action against defaulting mills.
