Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on food adulteration, authorities seized nearly 3.8 tonnes of substandard dairy products during raids in Hyderabad.
The operation was carried out by Task Force teams from the Khairtabad Zone in coordination with food safety officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Six dairy outlets near Ganj Bazar in Secunderabad were inspected during the drive.
Unhygienic Conditions Exposed
Officials found that the seized paneer, khoa, and other dairy products were:
- Sourced from unidentified and unverified suppliers
- Stored in open plastic bags
- Exposed to dust, insects, and poor hygiene conditions
Despite the inferior quality, the products were allegedly being sold to hotels, caterers, and customers at ₹280 per kg under the label of “high-quality” paneer.
Arrests Made
Authorities apprehended six individuals involved in the operation:
- Jaipal Singh Rajpurohit
- Kolariya Vaibhav
- Naresh Kolariya
- Prem Anil Vyas
- Ram Kishore Kolariya
- Laxmi Narayana Kolariya
Food Safety Concerns Rise
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about adulteration and poor hygiene practices in the dairy supply chain. Unsafe dairy products pose serious health risks, including foodborne illnesses.

Strict Action Likely
Officials indicated that strict legal action will be taken against those involved. Further investigations are underway to trace the supply chain and identify the sources of these adulterated products.

- Purchase dairy products only from trusted and certified vendors
- Check for proper packaging and labeling
- Report suspicious or unhygienic food practices
