Banas Farmers Partners with NCEL to Expand Global Market Access for Cooperative Products

Banas Farmers Producer Company, a sister organization of Banas Dairy, has entered into a strategic partnership with the National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL) to strengthen export opportunities for agricultural commodities and enhance income generation for farmers and livestock rearers.

Banas Farmers Partners with NCEL to Expand Global Market Access for Cooperative Products

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on June 2 in Mussoorie in the presence of Shankar Chaudhary, Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and Chairman of Banas Dairy, marking a significant step toward expanding the global footprint of India’s cooperative sector.

Boosting Exports Through Cooperative Collaboration

Under the agreement, Banas Farmers and NCEL will work together to promote the export of agricultural commodities including cumin, groundnut, and other agro-based products. The collaboration aims to improve market access for cooperative products, enabling farmers to secure better price realization and benefit from value-added opportunities in international markets.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhary said the partnership would help create sustainable income opportunities for farmers by connecting cooperative-produced commodities with global buyers.

“Through this strategic collaboration, agricultural commodities will gain wider access to international markets, enabling better price realization, value addition, and long-term income growth for farmers,” he stated.

Strengthening India’s Cooperative Export Ecosystem

According to Anupom Kausik, Managing Director of NCEL, the agreement represents an important milestone in strengthening India’s cooperative export framework.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the national vision of “Sahakar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity Through Cooperation) by empowering cooperative institutions to participate more effectively in global trade.

The partnership is expected to facilitate cooperation across multiple areas of the export value chain, including:

  • Procurement and aggregation
  • Product processing
  • Branding and packaging
  • Quality certification
  • Export compliance
  • International marketing and trade promotion

New Opportunities for Farmers and Livestock Rearers

Industry observers believe the collaboration could create significant benefits for farming communities by improving access to premium export markets and enhancing returns from agricultural production.

For cooperative organizations such as Banas Farmers, stronger export channels can help diversify revenue streams while supporting rural economic development. The initiative is also expected to benefit livestock rearers associated with the cooperative network by strengthening the overall agricultural value chain.

Supporting the Growth of India’s Cooperative Movement

The agreement highlights the growing role of cooperative institutions in driving agricultural exports and rural prosperity. By leveraging collective strengths, infrastructure, and market networks, cooperatives are increasingly positioning themselves as important players in India’s export-oriented agricultural economy.

NCEL was established with the objective of connecting Indian cooperative institutions with international markets and creating export opportunities for cooperative-produced goods. The latest partnership with Banas Farmers is expected to further this mission while contributing to the long-term growth and competitiveness of India’s cooperative sector.

As India seeks to expand agricultural exports and improve farmer incomes, collaborative initiatives such as this are likely to play a key role in integrating rural producers into global value chains and strengthening the country’s cooperative ecosystem.
