Amcor Launches Lightweight, Recyclable Dairy Container

London: Global packaging major Amcor has introduced an upgraded version of its UniPak 1 kg yogurt container, aimed at improving sustainability without compromising performance.

Lighter Design, Lower Carbon Footprint

The redesigned yogurt pot and lid now weigh 31.6 grams combined, achieving:

  • Up to 9% reduction in carbon emissions
  • Lower material usage
  • Improved environmental performance

The container is made entirely of polypropylene (PP), making it fully recyclable in regions with appropriate infrastructure.

Maintaining Strength and Performance

Despite its lighter design, the new UniPak container:

  • Retains robustness for supply chain handling
  • Ensures product protection and durability
  • Remains compatible with existing production lines

It also features:

  • Liquid-tight molded lid
  • Enhanced tamper-evidence for safety
  • Improved top-load strength

Meeting Market Demand

According to Katrina Burrett, the dairy sector is seeing strong demand for larger yogurt formats, particularly the 1 kg pack size.

The new packaging aims to help brands:

  • Enhance consumer convenience
  • Maintain high performance standards

Amcor highlighted broader industry trends, including:
