Amit Shah will inaugurate the new Madhur Dairy Unit-2 Automatic Milk Processing and Packaging Plant at Dashela in Gandhinagar on May 17, marking another major step in strengthening India’s cooperative dairy infrastructure.

The inauguration ceremony will also be attended by Bhupendrabhai Patel, Harsh Sanghavi, and other senior officials and dignitaries, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Cooperation.
The launch aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a self-reliant and prosperous India through the concept of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” — prosperity through cooperation.
Major Boost to Dairy Processing Capacity
The newly established Madhur Dairy Unit-2 is expected to significantly expand milk processing and packaging capacity in the region, strengthening Gujarat’s cooperative dairy network and improving value realisation for dairy farmers.
Officials said the project forms part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Cooperation to modernise India’s dairy cooperative ecosystem through advanced processing technology, efficient infrastructure, and stronger quality assurance systems.
The government has increasingly focused on technology-driven cooperative reforms aimed at improving productivity, farmer incomes, supply-chain efficiency, and value-added dairy production.
Advanced Automated Dairy Infrastructure
During the inauguration ceremony, Amit Shah will unveil the official plaque of Madhur Dairy Unit-2, tour the processing plant and viewing gallery, and formally launch plant operations from the central control room.
The new facility features automated milk processing and packaging systems designed to improve operational efficiency, maintain product quality, and support higher-volume dairy handling.
Industry experts note that investments in automation and modern dairy infrastructure are becoming increasingly important as India’s organised dairy market continues expanding rapidly.

Women Dairy Producers to Be Honoured
As part of the event, women milk producers associated with cooperative dairy societies will present Amit Shah with a Madhur Dairy product kit, highlighting the growing participation of women in India’s dairy cooperative movement.
The programme will also include the distribution of certificates to representatives of milk producer societies, reinforcing the government’s emphasis on strengthening grassroots dairy institutions.
Officials said the initiative reflects the cooperative sector’s broader role in rural empowerment, women’s participation, and inclusive agricultural development.

Strengthening India’s Cooperative Dairy Model
The opening of Madhur Dairy Unit-2 is expected to contribute to cooperative-led rural development by improving procurement systems, expanding processing capacity, and creating better livelihood opportunities for milk producers.
Industry observers believe projects such as Madhur Dairy Unit-2 reflect the government’s long-term strategy to modernise India’s dairy value chain through sustainable cooperative models, infrastructure investment, and technology integration.
India remains the world’s largest milk producer, and cooperative dairy institutions continue to play a critical role in connecting millions of rural farmers to organised markets, processing facilities, and value-added dairy opportunities.
