The programme will also feature the e-inauguration of dairy processing plants and cattle feed plants operated by various milk unions, marking a significant expansion of processing and production capacity within the state’s cooperative dairy sector.

According to the Ministry of Cooperation, development works worth ₹6,262 crore across 17 districts will be inaugurated or receive foundation stones during the programme.

Major boost to dairy cooperative infrastructure

The new dairy plant at the Alwar Saras Dairy Complex, along with the processing and cattle-feed facilities being inaugurated, is expected to strengthen the state’s milk processing capacity, value addition and animal nutrition infrastructure.

The investment is aimed at providing milk producers with better market access and strengthening the infrastructure required for procurement, processing and marketing of dairy products.

The initiative is being positioned under the government’s “Sahkar se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation) vision, which seeks to make cooperative institutions more modern, efficient and financially sustainable while improving returns for farmers.

Wider cooperative and rural development push

The Alwar event will also include the announcement of the formation of new Central Cooperative Banks and the transfer of funds to beneficiaries of various government schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), including beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi.

In addition, appointment letters will be distributed to 10,548 newly recruited personnel under the Rozgar Utsav.

Significance for Rajasthan’s dairy sector

The expansion of dairy processing and cattle-feed infrastructure could help Rajasthan strengthen its position in India’s organised dairy economy by improving milk handling, processing, value addition and livestock nutrition.

For dairy cooperatives, additional processing capacity can also help reduce dependence on liquid milk sales by enabling greater production of value-added dairy products, while stronger cattle-feed infrastructure can support productivity at the farm level.

The programme reflects the government’s broader strategy of using cooperative institutions as a mechanism for farmer income generation, rural employment and infrastructure development.
