Amul is set to broaden its product portfolio with a foray into certified organic tea, sugar and spices, as the dairy major steps up efforts to position itself as a full-scale FMCG company.
Managing Director Jayen Mehta told CNBC-TV18 that the move forms part of Amul’s wider strategy to diversify beyond its core dairy business. The expansion comes on the back of a strong financial year, with revenue touching ₹66,000 crore in FY25.

Mehta said Amul has officially become the largest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company in India, with a turnover 10% higher than its nearest multinational competitor. The company expects to reach ₹1 lakh crore in turnover by the end of FY26.
Amul is also ramping up operations across other categories. Ice cream sales are projected to grow by 35% to 40% this year, and production capacity for protein beverages is being increased fivefold starting 1 May.
Having already made inroads into the United States, Amul is looking to enter more international markets in the Middle East, South Asia and Africa, targeting regions with high demand for Indian food products.
Though the company is facing inflationary pressure on input costs, Mehta said Amul is currently maintaining existing milk prices without passing on the burden to consumers.
The entry into organic staples marks a notable shift for Amul as it builds out its non-dairy footprint and competes more directly with established FMCG players across multiple segments.
