Banas Dairy Targets Commissioning of 16 LLPD Baghpat Plant Within 18 Months

Palanpur : Banas Dairy has set a target to commission its upcoming dairy processing plant at Mitli in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district within the next 18 months, marking another major expansion of its cooperative dairy network in North India.

The project was recently reviewed by Shankar Chaudhary, Chairman of Banas Dairy and Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, who assessed the progress of construction at the Delhi NCR-region site.

With a milk processing capacity of 16 lakh litres per day (LLPD), the facility will be among the largest dairy plants in North India. The project also includes infrastructure for 10 lakh litres per day of fresh milk pouch packaging, 200 tonnes of curd production, and 2 lakh litres of buttermilk packaging daily, enabling large-scale production of liquid milk and value-added dairy products.

Speaking after the review, Chaudhary said the Baghpat project is a key component of Banas Dairy’s strategy to strengthen dairy infrastructure and improve access to one of India’s largest consumer markets. Once operational, the plant will manufacture a wide range of Amul dairy products to meet the growing demand across the Delhi NCR region.

The upcoming facility will be Banas Dairy’s fourth dairy plant in Uttar Pradesh, joining its existing operations in Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi. The expansion is expected to enhance procurement, processing, and distribution capabilities while creating a more efficient dairy value chain across the state.

Banas Dairy said the project is designed to provide dairy farmers with improved market access through the cooperative model, helping reduce dependence on intermediaries and ensuring better value realization for milk producers.

More than 2 lakh dairy farming families in Uttar Pradesh are already associated with Banas Dairy through its existing procurement network. The new plant is expected to extend the cooperative’s reach to thousands of additional milk producers while generating employment opportunities and supporting rural economic development.

The Baghpat project further strengthens Banas Dairy’s long-term focus on expanding modern dairy infrastructure, increasing value addition, and reinforcing the cooperative model as a driver of sustainable growth in India’s dairy sector.
