India’s fresh-food delivery company is exploring a potential listing as it expands beyond milk and builds a broader household grocery platform.

INDIA — Country Delight is preparing for a potential initial public offering (IPO), with the company reportedly targeting a fundraise of around US$200 million to US$300 million as it enters a new phase of growth.

According to reports citing Mint, the company’s parent, Beejapuri Dairy Pvt. Ltd., is expected to begin informal discussions with investment banks to identify potential lead managers for the proposed share sale.

The IPO is expected to potentially include a combination of fresh equity issuance and an offer-for-sale (OFS) by existing institutional investors. The final issue size, structure and timing, however, will depend on board approval and prevailing equity-market conditions.

Pre-IPO round could set valuation benchmark

Country Delight is also evaluating a possible pre-IPO funding round, which could provide the company with additional capital while helping establish a valuation benchmark ahead of a potential filing of its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

The potential listing comes as India’s consumer and technology companies increasingly look toward public markets for their next stage of expansion.

For investors, however, revenue growth alone is unlikely to determine the success of a potential Country Delight IPO. Key areas of scrutiny are expected to include unit economics, profitability, customer acquisition costs, retention, delivery efficiency and the sustainability of its subscription-led business model.

Revenue rises 46% in FY24

Country Delight reported revenue of approximately US$142.6 million in FY24, representing a 46% increase over the previous year.

The growth reflects the company’s expansion of its direct-to-consumer fresh-food model and its efforts to increase the range of products purchased by existing customers.

Milk remains central to the company’s business, but Country Delight has increasingly positioned itself as a broader household fresh-grocery platform.

From milk subscriptions to household grocery

Founded in 2015 by IIM Indore graduates Chakradhar Gade and Nitin Kaushal, Country Delight built its initial business around direct delivery of fresh milk to consumers.

The company developed an integrated supply chain connecting farmers and processing facilities with households through its distribution network.

Over time, its portfolio expanded beyond milk to include fruits, vegetables, eggs, pulses and other fresh products.

The strategy is significant from a business perspective: increasing the number of products purchased by an existing household can raise customer lifetime value while reducing dependence on a single category.

In effect, Country Delight is attempting to evolve from a milk subscription company into a recurring household fresh-food platform.

Quick-commerce experiment adds another growth avenue

Country Delight has also tested business models outside its traditional subscription framework.

In late 2024, the company entered the quick-commerce segment through a pilot in Gurugram, offering delivery in approximately 10–15 minutes.

The experiment reflects the changing competitive landscape in India’s online grocery market, where consumers increasingly expect both scheduled subscription deliveries and rapid on-demand fulfilment.

For Country Delight, the challenge will be balancing convenience and delivery speed with the economics of handling highly perishable products.

₹65 crore debt raised in 2026

The company has continued to raise capital to support its operations.

In May 2026, Country Delight reportedly secured ₹65 crore in debt from Alteria Capital for general corporate purposes.

The debt financing comes as the company evaluates its next major capital-market milestone.

If the proposed IPO progresses, Country Delight will have to demonstrate that its growth strategy can translate into sustainable economics at scale—not merely higher order volumes.

Why the potential IPO matters for India’s dairy sector

Country Delight’s potential listing is noteworthy beyond the startup ecosystem because it represents a different approach to India’s dairy value chain.

Traditional dairy businesses typically rely on procurement networks, processing plants, distributors and retail channels, while Country Delight has built its proposition around direct consumer relationships, subscription-led purchasing and last-mile delivery.

Its expansion into eggs, fruits, vegetables and other fresh products further blurs the traditional boundary between dairy delivery and online grocery.

The potential IPO will therefore provide investors with an opportunity to assess whether a technology-enabled, direct-to-consumer model can build a scalable and profitable business around India’s highly fragmented fresh-food supply chain.

The bigger picture

Country Delight’s proposed US$200–300 million IPO target signals the company’s ambition to move from a fast-growing private consumer business to a publicly scrutinised enterprise.

The next phase will likely depend on its ability to retain customers, increase household spending, improve supply-chain efficiency and demonstrate a credible path to profitability.

For India’s dairy and fresh-food sector, the proposed listing could also become an important test of how far the direct-to-consumer model can reshape the traditional milk and grocery distribution ecosystem.
