Cow husbandry: Assistance in various ways Various schemes of the Dairy Development Department

The Dairy Development Department’s assistance schemes are for those who have made cow husbandry their livelihood and those who are interested in starting a dairy farm on an industrial basis.

Cow husbandry

Individual subsidy: For those whose livelihood is cattle rearing: Rs. 30,000 for one cow unit, Rs. 60,000 for 2 cow units, Rs. 1,50,000 for 5 cow units.

Dairy Farm Subsidy: Rs. 3,80,000 for 10 cow units on industrial basis including bank loan. Rs. 7,60,000 for 20 cow units. Applications can be submitted through the Ksheerasree portal of the Dairy Development Department.

Ksheerayuva: Assistance of Rs. 4,64,000 per unit for young entrepreneurs to start a smart dairy farm. Applications can be made through the Ksheerashri portal. The unit includes 5 cows and related components.

Assistance to groups: Subsidy of Rs. 1,83,000 for 5 cow units and Rs. 3,80,000 for 10 cow units for JLG, SHG, FPO and other registered groups. Loan is mandatory for the project. Application can be made through Ksheera Portal.

Ksheeragramam: A scheme in which the People’s Planning Scheme share is also included in 40 selected gram panchayats. Subsidy of Rs. 25 lakhs per unit. Application can be made through the Ksheerasree portal.

Kidari Park Unit: A scheme for individuals, groups and dairy groups to raise goats on an industrial basis and sell them to government scheme beneficiaries. Subsidies of Rs. 9 lakh in the first phase and Rs. 6 lakh in the second phase. Applications can be made through the Ksheerashri portal. A unit consists of 50 goats and related components.

Dairy: A scheme to provide assistance to raise 10 cows in a community cowshed to improve the living conditions of workers in the plantation sector. Subsidy of Rs. 11 lakh per unit. Applications can be made through the Dairy Development Unit.

Ksheeratheeram: Individual scheme for the upliftment of fishermen and coir workers. Subsidy of Rs. 1,29,000 per unit. One unit consists of 2 cows and related facilities. Application can be made through the Dairy Development Unit.

Idukki Package: Dairy farmers in Idukki district are being provided assistance of Rs. 25 lakh per unit through the Dairy Development Unit.

Quarantine Center: A special scheme for quarantining cows brought from outside the state and distributing healthy cows to the beneficiaries. Subsidy of Rs. 7.5 lakh. Application can be made through the Dairy Development Unit.

Fodder farming: Assistance for fodder production and conservation. Assistance of Rs. 28,000 above 20 cents and Rs. 19,390 below 20 cents. Application can be made through Ksheerasree portal.

Irrigation: Assistance of Rs. 10,000 per unit for fodder cultivation less than one acre and Rs. 25,000 per acre above one acre. Application should be made through the Ksheerasree portal.

Chaff cutter, brush cutter: Assistance of Rs. 10,000 per unit for purchase of chaff cutter and brush cutter. Application can be made through Ksheerasree portal.

Fallen land fodder farming: Assistance of Rs. 1,00,000 per unit to individuals, groups and dairy groups for commercial fodder farming (minimum one hectare area) on fallow land. Applications can be made through the Ksheerasree portal. To promote fodder hubs / fodder marketing, a subsidy of Rs. 75,000 per unit is provided through JLGs /SHGs for commercial fodder farming on one acre of land. A subsidy of Rs. 15,785 per hectare will be provided for maize farming.

At least 30 cents should be cultivated. Applications can be made through the Ksheerasree portal. Assistance of Rs. 15,000 is provided to dairy farmers for accidental losses in cow husbandry through the Dairy Development Units. JLGs will be provided with a subsidy of Rs 20 lakh per unit for the manufacture and marketing of value-added products.

Subsidy of Rs 1 lakh per unit for the distribution of green grass, silage and straw through dairy groups. Subsidy through dairy development units for the distribution of mineral salt mixture through dairy groups. Assistance of Rs 75,000 per unit under the Farm Level Hygiene Scheme for sanitation in farms with 5 cows and above. Applications can be made through dairy development units.

Interest-free loan scheme:

A scheme that provides full interest on the loan amount taken for farm modernization and renovation for up to 5 years. Financial assistance up to a maximum of Rs. 3 lakh. Can be applied through the Dairy Development Unit. Subsidy of Rs. 50,000 for building a dairy with a minimum area of 325 square feet. Can be applied through the Ksheerashri portal. There is also financial assistance for purchasing a milking machine. Rs. 30,000 per unit. Can be applied through the Ksheerashri portal.

Mechanization

Financial assistance for the repair of the cowshed, purchase of milking machine, mist, fan, fogger, rubber mat, flytrap, and other 20 items in the cowshed. Subsidy 50%. Maximum Rs. 50,000 per unit. Assistance of Rs. 5 lakh for infrastructure development and mechanization of dairy farms. Application can be made through the Ksheerasree portal.
