New Delhi: A viral social media video has raised fresh concerns over quality control in quick-commerce deliveries after a customer alleged receiving damaged grocery items from Zepto.
The video, posted by Instagram user @tashneenmakkar on March 18, has garnered over 18 million views, showing multiple food products delivered in visibly compromised condition, including leaking and torn packaging.
Issues Highlighted in Viral Video
In the clip, the user displays:
- A leaking and swollen milk pouch from Amul, raising concerns about possible spoilage
- A torn cup of flavoured yoghurt from Mother Dairy
- A visibly worn egg crate from Nature Good
The user questioned how such items passed quality checks and urged others to avoid ordering from the platform.

Brand and Company Response
While Zepto has not issued a public statement so far, Amul responded to the complaint, expressing concern and requesting details such as batch number and delivery information to investigate the issue.
In a follow-up post, the customer stated that Zepto reached out privately, apologised, and offered replacement items including snacks and ice cream as a goodwill gesture. However, it remains unclear whether a refund was issued.
Growing Concerns Over Quick-Commerce Quality
The incident has reignited debate around last-mile delivery quality checks, particularly for perishable items like milk and dairy products. Experts note that improper handling during storage or transit can lead to:
- Packaging damage
- Product spoilage
- Food safety risks
With quick-commerce platforms expanding rapidly across urban India, maintaining cold chain integrity and packaging standards is becoming increasingly critical.
