What does this mean?
Global dairy markets are a patchwork of trends: New Zealand’s milk production dropped 0.5% in April, while Australia edged up 0.4%, and the US increased 1.5%. Meanwhile, the EU saw a 0.8% decline in March. Exports also varied, with New Zealand seeing an 11.2% rise in April, but Australia’s exports decreased by 11.4% in March. On the import side, Latin America and Asia displayed significant growth at 11.5% and 9.5%, with China’s imports up 3.8% in April. Amid these diverse trends, Fonterra strategically set a farmgate milk price between NZ$8 and NZ$11 per kgMS for the 2025 to 2026 season, aligning with stable market demand.
