Regulator Intensifies Scrutiny on Labelling, Health Claims and Hygiene Standards
New Delhi: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has intensified its enforcement drive against food business operators (FBOs), issuing notices to several companies, including Param Dairy Limited and Bikanervala, over alleged violations related to food safety, labelling compliance, hygiene standards, and consumer protection regulations.
The regulatory action forms part of FSSAI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, ensure regulatory compliance, and safeguard public health across India’s food sector.
Multiple Products Under Regulatory Review
According to the notices, several packaged food and nutritional supplement products have been flagged for concerns including misleading branding, unverified health and nutritional claims, incomplete labelling disclosures, and potential violations of food safety regulations.
Among the products reportedly under scrutiny are:
- Incipro Gold Powder Vanilla
- Korean Ginseng supplements
- Buransh Squash
- Alkaline Nutrient Water
- Alphonso Mango Fruit Drink
FSSAI has raised concerns that certain products may have carried claims related to health benefits, performance enhancement, or nutritional superiority without adequate regulatory approval or supporting evidence as required under existing food safety regulations.
The authority has also highlighted issues related to mandatory labelling requirements and consumer information disclosures.
Param Dairy Asked to Clarify Consumer Complaints
In a separate action, Param Dairy Limited has been directed to provide clarifications following consumer complaints alleging fungal contamination in dairy products supplied through catering channels.

Regulators are reportedly reviewing the matter to determine compliance with applicable food safety standards and quality control requirements.
The company has been asked to submit its response and supporting information for examination by the authority.
Hygiene Concerns at Bikanervala
FSSAI has also issued a notice to Bikanervala following complaints concerning hygiene conditions in food preparation and service areas.
The regulator has sought explanations regarding the concerns raised and has directed the company to take corrective measures wherever necessary to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene norms.
Focus on Consumer Protection
Food safety experts note that regulatory oversight has become increasingly important as India’s packaged food, dairy, nutraceutical, and quick-service restaurant sectors continue to expand rapidly.
Through these notices, FSSAI has reiterated the importance of:
