Hatsun Agro Product Ltd. (HAPL) has partnered with the Government of Odisha and the State Bank of India (SBI) to launch ‘Go-Dhan’, a three-year initiative aimed at supporting the establishment of more than 6,000 dairy farms across Odisha.
The programme is designed to strengthen the state’s dairy ecosystem by improving farmers’ access to finance, technology, livestock resources and government support, while creating a larger local milk supply base for the company.
6,000 Farmers Across 15 Districts
Under the initiative, more than 6,000 dairy farmers across 15 districts of Odisha are expected to receive support over the next three years.
The programme will facilitate access to institutional finance and government schemes for investments in areas such as quality bovine breeds, improved cattle housing, farm mechanisation, animal nutrition and herd-health management.
The initiative is also intended to support more sustainable dairy-farming practices while improving productivity at the farm level.
Government Subsidies to Support Dairy Investments
Hatsun Agro Product said participating farmers will be able to leverage government assistance programmes, including the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY).

The availability of subsidy-linked institutional finance is expected to help farmers reduce the upfront financial burden associated with expanding dairy farms and investing in livestock and farm infrastructure.
Focus on Local Milk Production and Procurement
The programme is also linked to Hatsun Agro Product’s strategy of developing a stronger local milk procurement network in Odisha.
R.G. Chandramogan, Chairman, Hatsun Agro Product, said the company’s objective is to produce and procure milk within Odisha, creating greater value for local farmers while meeting consumer demand in Odisha and neighbouring markets.
The company sees potential to serve markets extending into West Bengal and North Andhra Pradesh as the local dairy ecosystem develops.
Building a Sustainable Dairy Ecosystem
By combining farmer-level investments with institutional finance and government support, the Go-Dhan initiative is intended to create a more integrated dairy ecosystem in Odisha.
For Hatsun Agro Product, the programme could also provide a structured pathway to expand its local milk procurement base while supporting farmers in improving herd productivity, infrastructure and farm management practices over the three-year period.
