Kerala’s Milma signs MoU to export dairy products to Australia, New Zealand

Kerala’s leading dairy cooperative Milma (Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation) has signed a tripartite MoU to begin exporting its products to Australia and New Zealand, marking its entry into new international markets beyond the Gulf region.

The agreement was signed by KCMMF Managing Director Asif K. Yusuf, RG Foods Executive Director Vishnu G, and Midnightsun Global proprietor Bindu Ganesh Kumar, in the presence of Milma Chairman K. S. Mani.

Under this deal:

  • RG Foods will manage the entire logistics process, including product pickup, transportation, customs, and freight forwarding, ensuring compliance with destination country laws.
  • Midnightsun Global will serve as a coordinating partner, assisting with smooth operations but without ownership rights.

Milma will start exports with paneer, payasam mix, and dairy whitener, later expanding the product range. All items will meet international quality and packaging standards.

Chairman Mani called it a “milestone” for Milma, noting that its products already enjoy strong demand in Gulf countries, especially among non-resident Keralites (NRKs). Australia and New Zealand, with large NRK communities, are seen as high-potential markets.

Managing Director Yusuf said the export plan is designed to ensure quality consistency and cost efficiency, while RG Foods will cover all logistics and export-related expenses and risks.

Mani emphasized that Milma’s farmers will benefit most from this expansion, as the cooperative returned 92.5% of profits to member farmers last year.

For FY 2024–25, Milma recorded a turnover of ₹4,327 crore, underlining its strong growth and commitment to farmer welfare alongside international expansion.
