Hyderabad: In a major food safety crackdown ahead of festivals like Ugadi and Ramadan, police in Hyderabad have busted multiple adulteration rackets, seizing over 5,600 kg of fake paneer and dairy products, along with chemicals-laced pickles and food pastes.

- Pickles were made using spoiled vegetables
- Unhygienic preparation methods were used
- 72 drums of pickles and large quantities of tomato and tamarind paste were seized
Two individuals were arrested in connection with the unit.

Chemicals in Food Products
Further raids in Tappachabutra and Borabanda revealed:
- Over 1,100 kg of adulterated food materials seized
- Use of chemicals like citric acid and acetic acid
- Storage in dirty, open containers
