Amidst market competition and Amul’s entry, Tirupati temple stands as Nandini ghee’s biggest customer, consuming 4,520 metric tonnes in 2024-25, followed by Mahaveer Mandir, Patna. KMF profits from ice cream supply to GCMMF have remained consistent, with 183 varieties currently manufactured. MLC Madhu Gowda emphasizes Nandini’s quality amidst increasing market players.

MYSURU: Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) earned a profit of Rs 3.69 crores by supplying ice cream worth Rs 146 crores to Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) of Amul products fame. On average, 12,000 litres of ice cream were supplied to GCMMF every day for the last three years.
Meanwhile, Tirupati temple is the biggest customer for Nandini ghee among the temples. The second-largest customer is Mahaveer Mandir, Patna.This data comes amid protests against Amul’s entry into the state and allegations that Amul is capturing KMF’s market.According to the information shared by the animal husbandry minister K Venkatesh in response to a question raised by MLC Madhu Madegowda from Mandya, ice cream is currently produced in three KMF plants in the state, including Mother Dairy in Bengaluru, Ballari, and the KMF ice cream factory in Hassan.
As per the data, in 2024-25, KMF made a profit of Rs 1.18 crores by supplying ice cream to GCMMF, while it was Rs 1.22 crores in 2023-24. In 2022-23, the federation made a profit of Rs 1.28 crores.As per the data, KMF supplied ice cream worth Rs 43.33 crores to Amul, which increased to Rs 56.21 crores the next year. In 2024-25, it was Rs 47.73 crores.The minister informed that KMF is currently manufacturing 183 varieties of ice cream.

“As a customer of Nandini milk and milk products, I wanted to create awareness about the brand. Currently, more players are entering the market. As the KMF products are known for their quality, the customers can easily differentiate between Nandini milk and milk products and other brands,” said MLC Madhu Gowda.

moshi, CM Siddaramaiah reply furnished to a question raised by ML informed that 4,520 metric tonnes of Nandini ghee were supplied to Tirupati temple in 2024-25, making it the largest customer among the temples for KMF.
Mahaveer Mandir in Patna is the second-largest customer with 192.24 metric tonnes of ghee. Among the state temples, Dharmasthala temple is the largest customer with 73.50 metric tonnes.
