A high-level meeting was chaired by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy at the Legislative Assembly to discuss the development of dairy sector in the Union Territory with representatives of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).

NDDB Chairman Meenesh Shah and Executive Director of the Board Rajeev, who were in Puducherry on Saturday to participate in the ceremony to lay the foundation for an ice cream plant at the Pondicherry Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (Ponlait), presented to the Chief Minister a detailed roadmap to improve the dairy sector.
The NDDB team stressed on the need for breed improvement programme, productivity improvement, market expansion and strengthening cooperative coverage. They emphasised on women-centric development initiatives for the dairy cooperatives. The government would engage the NDDB further for implementation of a structured plan for the development of the dairy sector in the Union Territory, an official release here said.
