The election process for the Board of Directors of Surat District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. (Sumul Dairy) formally commenced on June 11 with the issuance of nomination forms, marking the beginning of a significant electoral exercise in Gujarat’s cooperative dairy sector.
The elections will determine representatives for 16 seats on the Board of Directors, which oversees one of India’s leading dairy cooperatives and plays a crucial role in shaping dairy development across South Gujarat.

Sumul Dairy is among the largest milk unions in Gujarat and a key member of the state’s cooperative dairy network.
The cooperative currently procures and markets approximately 12.5 lakh litres of milk per day through an extensive network of nearly 2.5 lakh dairy farmers and livestock rearers spread across the region.
