Purabi Dairy, the largest dairy cooperative in Northeast India, has stepped into the traditional sweets segment with the launch of Purabi Kalakand and Purabi Milk Cake. The products were unveiled on National Milk Day, celebrated annually to honour Dr. Verghese Kurien, the architect of India’s White Revolution.

The new Purabi Mithai range will be available at:
- Purabi Parlour, Panjabari
- All Purabi Milk Booths across Guwahati
- Selected grocery outlets in the city

- Manufactured by: West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL)
- Marketed by: North East Dairy and Foods Limited (NEDFL) — a JV between the Government of Assam and NDDB

- Satya Brata Bose, MD, NEDFL, called the launch “a natural extension of consumers’ trust in Purabi’s quality dairy products.”.
- Sameer Kumar Parida, MD, WAMUL, emphasized that the new product range will increase milk procurement, generate better returns for dairy farmers, and strengthen the dairy ecosystem in Assam.

Five Purabi Dairy Farmers Felicitated by Assam Govt
During the National Milk Day state event at the College of Veterinary Sciences, Khanapara, the Assam government honoured five Purabi-associated farmers for their excellence and progressive dairy practices:

- Majar Ali – Bongaigaon
- Mani Bala Das – Hojai
- Tajer Rahman – Darrang
- Mina Chetry – Nagaon
- Som Bahadur Chetry – Hojai
Nearly 60 Purabi farmers participated in the celebration.
Purabi’s Contribution
Officials highlighted Purabi’s ongoing initiatives such as:
- Strengthening producer groups
- Enhancing farmer livelihoods
- Upgrading processing capabilities
- Expanding retail footprints
All of these efforts are contributing to sustained growth in Assam’s dairy sector.
