The Union Home and Cooperation Minister informed Parliament that Rajasthan has not set up any new milk chilling plants through RCDF or its milk unions in the last five years.
Instead, the state is now focusing on providing Bulk Milk Coolers (BMCs) to dairy cooperative societies under the RCDF BMC Allotment Policy 2024. Priority is given to societies with high milk procurement or clusters with low procurement to reduce transport time and cost. These societies must also hold a valid FSSAI license.
Milk Procurement Prices (October 2025)
- Cow milk: ₹37.13 per litre (includes ₹5 subsidy)
- Buffalo milk: ₹59.58 per litre (includes ₹5 subsidy)
Prices are fixed by RCDF and district unions based on:
- Fat percentage
- Market demand & supply
- Season
- Stock levels
- Availability of green fodder
Infrastructure Support
Under NDDB-linked schemes (formerly DIDF, now merged with AHIDF):
- Bhilwara Milk Union received ₹59.77 crore sanctioned
- ₹55.35 crore disbursed
- Project: New 500 TLPD dairy plant
- Project completed
AMUL’s Presence
- AMUL has no dairy plant in Jhalawar–Baran
- The region is served through a contract manufacturing unit in Kota
