New Delhi: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has reiterated the Centre’s commitment to strengthening farmer welfare and agricultural infrastructure during a meeting with Dattatraya Vithoba Bharne in the national capital.

Focus on Crop Damage and Insurance Support
Taking note of crop losses caused by unseasonal rains in coastal regions of Maharashtra, Chouhan directed officials to ensure that affected farmers receive maximum compensation under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
He highlighted that a Central assessment team has already visited the affected areas, reflecting the government’s proactive approach to disaster response and farmer support.
Strengthening Agricultural Reforms
The Minister also emphasized ongoing reforms under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, with 52 teams deployed across regions to address farmers’ issues and ensure effective implementation of policies.
Regular monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to track progress and resolve ground-level challenges.
Boost Through Central Schemes
Chouhan urged the state government to fully leverage the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) to accelerate agricultural growth and infrastructure development.

During the meeting, the Union Minister was also briefed on the implementation status of various Central schemes in Maharashtra.

The discussions underscored the importance of Centre–State coordination in addressing climate-related challenges, improving farm incomes, and strengthening the agricultural ecosystem.
