The story of Daryaben Rajput from Banaskantha District has become a new symbol of women entrepreneurship in rural India. After beginning her married life as an ordinary homemaker, Daryaben now manages a dairy business worth crores of rupees and provides employment to dozens of people.

Associated with Banas Dairy, she supplies around 1,000 liters of milk every day. She owns more than 300 cattle, and her dairy enterprise has grown to a level where her annual income has reached ₹1.85 crore. Her success has emerged as a powerful inspiration for rural women across India.
From a Homemaker to a Successful Dairy Entrepreneur
India’s dairy sector has long been considered the backbone of the rural economy, but today women are playing a stronger role than ever before. Banaskantha district in Gujarat is a prime example, where thousands of women run dairy farming not merely as a supplementary source of income but as an organized business.
One of the most remarkable stories of this transformation is that of Daryaben Rajput. What began as an effort to support her household has evolved into a business generating crores of rupees. Her journey demonstrates that with the right opportunities, hard work, and institutional support, rural women can build large-scale enterprises.
At the age of 18, shortly after her marriage, Daryaben became involved in dairy activities. Initially, her responsibilities included caring for a few family-owned animals, milking them, and selling milk locally.
Over time, she expanded beyond basic animal husbandry. She increased the number of livestock, focused on improving milk production, and systematically developed her dairy business. This decision ultimately transformed her life.
Managing a Farm with 300 Animals
Today, Daryaben’s farm houses approximately 200 buffaloes and 100 cows, totaling 300 animals. Managing such a large operation is comparable to running a small industry.
To support daily operations, she employs 14 workers. Every aspect of the farm—from feed management and animal healthcare to milk production—is organized and professionally managed.
1,000 Liters of Milk Daily and ₹15 Lakh Monthly Earnings
Daryaben’s day begins at 3:30 a.m. After milk collection and other farm activities, her dairy supplies about 1,000 liters of milk every day to Banas Dairy.
This steady supply generates a gross monthly income of around ₹20 lakh. As a result, her dairy model has become widely discussed and admired in neighboring regions.
According to financial year records, her annual earnings reached ₹1.85 crore, a remarkable achievement for a woman entrepreneur from a rural background. Her success is not merely the result of owning many animals but also of effective management, consistent production, and strong integration with the dairy cooperative network.
The Role of Banas Dairy
Banas Dairy has played a significant role in Daryaben’s success. It is one of India’s largest dairy cooperative networks and is connected with millions of milk producers.
By providing farmers with regular payments, technical guidance, and reliable market access, the cooperative has helped increase rural incomes substantially. Daryaben is one of the beneficiaries of this successful model.
Rising Economic Power of Women
Among the approximately 472,000 milk producers associated with Banas Dairy, around 168,000 are women. This reflects the growing importance of the dairy sector as a platform for women’s economic participation.

In rural areas, women are no longer limited to caring for livestock; they are increasingly involved in production management, financial decision-making, and business expansion.
Among the Top-Earning Women Dairy Entrepreneurs
Daryaben is among a select group of women dairy entrepreneurs whose annual income has crossed the crore-rupee mark. Her name has been prominently featured among the top women milk producers recognized by Banas Dairy.
Her achievement is particularly significant because she built her success from a purely rural background through determination and entrepreneurship.
An Inspiration for Rural Women
Today, Daryaben’s story is much more than the story of a dairy farmer. She has become an inspiration for thousands of women who aspire to achieve financial independence despite limited resources.
Her success proves that with an organized dairy model, hard work, and proper guidance, rural women can build businesses worth crores of rupees and transform the economic future of their families and communities.
